SCHOOL RESOURCES
Our School Resource Officer interacts on a regular basis with children from the Eureka Springs public schools, Clear Springs School and the Academy of Excellence. The SRO has been trained in and utilizes the Gang Resistance and Education Training curriculum, which is administered by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. The SRO also administers other training courses, which introduce the children to state and federal laws, drug and alcohol prevention and violence prevention to give them a clear view of the criminal justice system.
The SRO program has been ongoing since 1996 with excellent results. The attitude of the children in our jurisdiction has changed phenomenally over the years and they now see the police officers as their friends.
