COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

The police department also sponsors and supports the Eureka Springs Skate Park. Through tireless efforts over the past many years, citizens and city officials finally accomplished the task of building a new city owned skate park. The park is located in Harmon Park beside the Eureka Kids program. We at the police department see this as a major coup and hope the skating youth enjoy the park for many years to come.

The police department participates annually in the Shop With a Cop program in conjunction with Wal Mart. Officers from surrounding agencies accompany children from needy families while they purchase Christmas presents for themselves or others on an expense account provided by Wal Mart.

Selected students from the Eureka Springs High School who are considering a career in law enforcement get to ride with patrol officers and detectives throughout the day.

The students at EAST Lab at the Eureka Springs High School worked for an entire year to design and provide software to the dispatch center. The software is designed to make it easier and faster for the 911 dispatcher to locate the person in need and send the appropriate help to them.
